It seems that I am constantly coming across people talking about how they are so frustrated on laundry day due to the apparent disappearance of socks. They never leave in pairs... at least matching ones.
I've seen some good suggestions, and some bad, over the last few months. So I figured it was time to share what I do with those pesky socks that are determined to abandon their mate.
It's quite simple actually. Most women have already used this method for either delicates or hose. My family uses those netted bags with a zipper! It works brilliantly!! Especially for the tiny baby socks. Instead of the socks going into the laundry basket, they go into a sock bag.
Over the last few years, as our family has grown (literally), the bags have had to get bigger. Zippered bags work best, but the drawstring ones will work, too, if they have something that keeps it from coming untied.
Don't over stuff the bag, obviously, or they wont get clean enough. And get one bag for each family member to make sorting even easier.
Something else the bags are good for... washing favorite stuffed animals. It helps to protect them from the abuse they receive going through the washing machine and dryer. That's how we wash Teddy all the time. And she comes out fluffy, clean and not stuck inside someone's pant leg.
