Speaking LIFE Into Our Children

By Sandra

I ran into a friend at a restaurant yesterday, who wanted to get our kids together for a fun day before her son’s school begins next week. She shared with me that she would love to homeschool, if her situation allowed. God touched my heart when she shared that. She had been shopping for school supplies and said that she hated this time of year.  I sensed that she loved the extra time with her son that summer allows.

As many children, teachers, and parents are filled with anxiety or dread as the new school year begins, homeschool parents can relax. Not because it’s so much easier for us. We know it is difficult to teach our own children on some days. We can be filled with joy and peace, though, because we have such a privilege in imparting knowledge and wisdom to our own family, and because we know that God is our help. We have positioned ourselves to keep our children on the narrow path, teaching them all the life skills for survival and all the spiritual truths they need to prosper.

Dogs and Cats, Living Together…Mass Hysteria

By Alan

God tells us that “kind follows kind,” Genesis 1:25 and science has reinforced that with DNA. We can see the micro-machines that let the DNA from mother and father combine to give us offspring that should resemble a combination of the pair.

So, it becomes puzzling when you get children that look like you and your wife, look like your respective grandparents, and yet, you are convinced that the DNA must have come from the household pets.

Awesome Craft To Do With Your Kids

By MAD21

I was reading through some of my favorite blogs and came across a really great idea from fellow blogger Kristen at We Are THAT Family.

The project is 'DIYP: Little Hands.' We all probably have at least one hand stamp or imprint of each of our kids when they were little, but I thought this was a unique way to preserve their handprints. And in a way that is easy to hang on the walls for everyone to see. Kristen found the idea at Country Living Magazine. Thanks for sharing it!!

I know what project I'll be working on over vacation!

BMI Tracking Tool For Kids

By MAD21

Most parents are concerned about how healthy their kids are. We've all heard of the Body Mass Index (BMI), but the calculators are usually just for adults. I found one that was made for kids on the site Health Key.

They state, "...This tool can be used for children ages 2 through 19. Be cautious if you use this tool or any height and weight charts to assess your child's growth after he or she reaches puberty. Check with your doctor if you have questions."

As I've said in previous articles, never go by just one source or calculator. But this looks like a good one to use to start tracking your child's growth through their BMIClick here to see an interactive tool..

How Can Kids Search The Internet Safely, And Still Learn Something?

By MAD21

AskKids is a kid safe search engine that allows age appropriate searches of the internet for answers to common (and uncommon) questions.

This site was created by the makers of Ask.com, who decided it was not appropriate to let all answers be shown for any topic asked if children were the ones asking.  So, AskKids was born for kids age 6-12.  Every website result is hand picked for cleanliness.

The main page looks like notebook (including being able to scribble on it with pen, pencil, and highlighter, and stickers).

Top level sections include Schoolhouse, Movies, Games, Video, and Images.
