Tasty Bites: Cream Cheese Caramel Apple Dip

By Beth V

I was asked to provide refreshments recently for our women’s Bible study group. I was feeling all fall-ish and went on a hunt for some fall-oriented recipes. I found this delicious caramel apple dip at the Whimsy Love blog. The author hosts a monthly craft night where she also provides a spread of delicious goodies. She creates all sorts of fun and whimsical recipes and craft ideas as well as inspiration on displaying the yummy goodies. Check it out sometime.

This delicious recipe starts with four simple ingredients: cream cheese, brown sugar, white sugar and vanilla. That’s it! The dip turns out very caramel-y and is a perfect companion for crispy fall apples.

Works For Me Wednesday: Making Applesauce

By MAD21

We started a new tradition in our family last year. We decided that we were going to give everyone homemade applesauce as gifts for Christmas. So in October (the middle of apple season!) we headed out to one of our local farmer stands and purchased several bushels of apples. Seven different kinds. It was a hit. Both the family time it took to make the applesauce, and the they joyful reception the gifts got during the holidays. We really enjoyed the time we had with Grandma teaching us the canning process, and our girls LOVED using the peeler to peel all the apples (which was Grandma's station...though thinking back, I think the time with Grandma was probably what was enjoyed most).

In case you haven’t heard, the somewhat campy 1981 movie Clash of the Titans is being remade, scheduled to come out Spring of 2010. The theme of the mythical storyline is about a man (even though he was somewhat extraordinary) struggling to survive amongst the conflicts between the gods (little “g”) and the offspring of the gods (called Titans). It was common among the Roman and Greek myths to have conflict among the gods, who don’t actually fight directly with each other, but use humans, titans, and heroes as mere pawns in their epic battles. The poor humans who happened to be nearby often suffered because of these battles.

People today believe that they are in charge of their own destiny, and have the freedom to do what they like. This is true, however, that doesn’t mean that they aren’t going to be victims as bystanders in some titanic struggle that they didn’t start or fully understand.
