Fingerprint Friday: Signs of Summer

One of the things I love most about summer is fresh fruits and vegetables. Vine ripened strawberries, snap peas, peppers, lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, and we can't forget about corn!! I have to admit that aside from an attempt to grow carrots as a child, I have never had my own garden. I've always just benefited from the fruits of my friend's wonderful gardens.

When shopping for our flowers this spring, my daughter's asked if we could get a tomato plant (it was at their eye-level and they saw the picture of the plant). I thought... why not?

How Does Your Garden Grow?

This spring our family decided to plant a container garden. We thought it would provide a few practical lessons in agriculture, so we decided on small tomato plants, green and red pepper plants, and baby lettuces. I am not a gardener, don’t particularly care for indoor plants, and certainly don’t have a trademark green thumb with regard to my yard shrubs. Despite my lack of experience, we decided to try this modern “Victory” garden, a knock-off from the popular U.S. garden from World War II.
